Terms & Conditions
Terms and Conditions of Tuition
These terms outline the agreement between the instructor and the student. By booking a lesson with Lou's Learners, you agree to the following conditions.
Fitness to Drive
- You must hold a valid UK or Northern Ireland provisional driving licence and bring it to your first lesson.
- You must meet the legal eyesight requirements (reading a standard number plate from 20.5 metres).
- You must be medically fit to drive.
- You must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any medication that affects your ability to drive. If the instructor suspects you are unfit to drive, the lesson will be cancelled immediately, and the full fee will be charged.
Behaviour and Safety
The instructor reserves the right to terminate a lesson early if your behaviour is deemed unsafe, aggressive, or inappropriate.
While the instructor uses dual controls to maintain safety, you are ultimately responsible for your actions behind the wheel.
Payments and Block Bookings
- Lessons must be paid for in advance or at the exact time of the lesson via the agreed payment methods.
- Block bookings or prepaid packages must be used within 6 months of the purchase date.
Liability and Tests
- The instructor will provide a roadworthy, dual-controlled, and fully insured vehicle for all lessons and tests (unless agreed otherwise where the student requests lessons conducted in their car, this is also expected to be of similar roadworthy standard).
- The instructor is not liable for tests cancelled by the DVA/DVSA due to examiner illness, bad weather, or administrative errors.
- The instructor reserves the right to withhold the use of the training car for a practical test if, in their professional opinion, you are not yet safe or ready to drive independently.

Discussing Your Needs
If you have specific learning requirements, neurodivergent needs (such as ADHD or autism), or physical limitations, please let us know during your initial enquiry.
Vehicle Adaptations
We are happy to discuss how we can tailor our teaching methods to suit your learning style. Please note that while we adapt our teaching to the individual, our current training vehicle is a standard manual/automatic car.
